Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust organises free Medical Camp
Jammu, August 28 '2011: Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust (JYBT) today organised 18th free medical camp in which 120 patients suffering from cancer related ailments were examined by the renowned Oncologist Dr Ashok Vaid.
Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust organises free medical camps every month at the residence of Shri Pawan Kumar Shastri, president of the Trust. This was the 15th visit of Dr. Ashok Vaid, Chairman Institute of Oncology Medanta - The Medicity, Gurgaon, purported at providing free check up and consultation to cancer patients.
Free medical checkup and consultation was provided to 120 cancer related patients, today. Dr. Vaid also distributed medicines among 50 poor patients. Pawan Shastri informed that gradually full-fledged outdoor health facility centre is being set up by the Trust, fully equipped with X-ray equipment, Ultra-sound and other necessary aids in Jammu also.

Bhawan at Haridwar and the activities of the trust to the prospective tourist and pilgrim in the country and those from abroad who visit India, for bliss tourism, President Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust Pawan Shastri has stated.
Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust has constructed a spacious Bhawan for pilgrims visiting Haridwar, particularly from Jammu and. The Bhawan has 150 Commodious rooms, with all the modern facilities of sanitation and
other facilities, for the lodging of the pilgrims. The Trust also provides all other assistance and help to the pilgrims to Haridwar, for last rites of their deceased relatives and for other religious discourses, as having a dip in the sacred Ganga River.
He has stated that besides devotees from Jammu region and other parts of the country, groups of Hindu pilgrim from foreign countries visiting Haridwar have been enjoying hospitality of Yatri Bhawan, where besides comfortable lodging free four times wholesome meals are served to them.
Shri Shastri said 60 members of Sikh families from Pakistan's Sindh province stayed at the Jammu Yatri Bhawan during there visit to Haridwar and were delighted to see the facilities for the people.
He said mementoes were presented to Pakistan's Sikh families as a token of love and gesture. The Sikh families were asked to tell their relatives about the Jammu Yatri Bhawan so that they too also stayed there when they undertake visit to Haridwar.
Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust honours Dr Vishwa Murti
Jammu, July 10 '2011: The Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust today honoured Dr Vishwa Murti Shastri and announced special discount to associated members for treatment at Mediocity Hospital.
The members of Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust led by its president Shri Pawan Shastri honoured the renowned Dr Vishwa Murti Shastri, associated to Mediocity Hospital, on getting President's Medal this year for outstanding service to society.
Later, Mr Pawan also announced 25 to 30 per cent discount to Jammu based patients associated to Jammu Yatri Bhawan for treatment at Mediocity hospital. He disclosed that Mediocity has offered special discount to people associated to Jammu Yatri Bhawan for patients ailing from different diseases.
He said during the 2-day camp organised by Jammu Yatri Bhawan at Thakur Dwara, Shakti Nagar, Dr Ashok Vaid of Mediocity treated 110 patients and distributed free medicines of Rs 1.5 lakhs.
Jammu Yatri Bhawan organises Medical Camp
Jammu, May 29th, 2011: A free medical camp organised by Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust here on Saturday. Sixty patients were given free check up and consultation by the world renowned Oncologist, Dr. Ashok Vaid. This was the 15th visit of Dr. Ashok Vaid, Chairman Institute of Oncology Medenta-the Medicity, Gurgaon. Dr. Vaid was accompanied by his junior, Dr. Davinder Sharma.
Briefing the media Pawan Shastri and Dr. Ashok Vaid told that in due course of time a fullfledged out door free nursing home will be set up, equipped with necessary medical testing equipments, like X-ray, scanning and ultra-sound etc. Besides arrangements for after care, consultation by renowned doctors in the country will be made available to the patients, all free of cost.
Besides providing spacious premises for holding free medical camps, Pawan Shastri provides all logistic help and assistance for examining of the patients.
Deputy Chief Minister, Jammu & Kashmir lays foundation stone of Jammu Yatri Bhawan
Jammu, July 26 '2010: Amidst chanting of Vedic hymns and other religious ceremonies, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand and Agricultural Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir jointly laid the foundation stone of the headquarters of Jammu Yatri Bhawan at B. C. Road Jammu on Monday. Vishav Murti Shastri, Principal Deemed Sanskrit University, Jammu recited the Vedic hymns and conducted religious discourse on the occasion.
Former Union Minister and Governor, Dr. Karan Singh (M.P) who was to lay the foundation stone according to announced schedule could not come to Jammu because of his pressing engagements. However, a letter addressed by him to President Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust Pawan Shastri regretting his ability to keep up the date was read out by Dr. Singh's emissary sent specially from Delhi.
Elaborating details of the project Pawan Shastri stated that some years ago one kanal and two marlas of JDA land at B.C .road was allotted to the Trust by Ghulam Hassan Mir who was the Minister in charge Housing and Urban Development, and the cost of the land was paid by a donor.
The project envisages construction of four storey building at he site, with an estimated cost of Rs. four crores. Of this, two crores have already been raised through donations by the philanthropists and the balance money will also be raised eventually through more donations. While one storey of the proposed building will house head office of Jammu Yatri Bhawan, a spacious conference hall will be provided in another storey.
Arrangement for free medical consultation and check up camps will be run by prominent doctors of the country originally belonging to Jammu. One storey of the building will house polio patients' treatment centre.
In this connection a colorful function was organized in the evening at Abhinav Theater Jammu, where some distinguished personalities were felicitated. DY. CM Tara Chand and Agriculture Minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir, jointly felicitated and honoured Dr. Ashok Vaid, a world renowned cancer specialist originally belonging to Jammu and presently Chairman of Iconology and Hematology, Medanta Cancer Institute (The Medicity) Gurgaon.
Dr. Vaid has been providing free check ups and consultation to cancer patients in the monthly camps organized by Jammu Yatri Bhawan at the residence of Pawan Shastri, the President of the Trust. Dr. Vaid announced that besides his monthly visits to Jammu for free check up and consultations to cancer patients in the state, he had motivated some other medical specialists to hold free check up and consultation camps at Jammu. The world renowned heart specialist and founder Chairman of Medanta Medicity hospital and medical institutes, Dr. Naresh Trehan has also assured him to be visiting Jammu after every two months to give free consultation and check up to heart patients. Some other heart specialists from the Medanta Medicity institute will be visiting Jammu every month to offer free consultation to heart patients. Eventually a full fledged free consultation and check up centre will come up in the new building of Jammu Yatri Bhawan. The centre will be equipped with latest and sophisticated laboratory equipment for proper diagnosis of patients suffering from various ailments. Dr. Vaid also disclosed that Dr. Naresh Trehan has agreed to give 40% concession to all the patients from Jammu and Kashmir referred and recommended by Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust and management for treatment in the Medanta Medicity Institutes and hospitals in Gurgaon.
Earlier, Yash Bhasin -- media advisor Jammu Yatri Bhawan, welcomed the dignitaries and guests at the function. Gurudas Sharma, Advisor to the President Jammu Yatri Bhawan conducted the proceedings of the functions held in the morning and the evening at Abhinav Theater.
He disclosed that, Jammu Yatri Bhawan at Haridwar has 150 rooms, with latest and modern facilities for the pilgrims from Jammu visiting Haridwar for performing religious ceremonies. These pilgrims are provided free meals at Haridwar.
In their addresses, the DY Chief Minister Tara Chand and Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir lauded the role of Jammu Yatri Bhawan and contributions of its President Pawan Shastri in various humanitarian and social activities. They assured of their fullest cooperation and assistance in the welfare activities of the Trust and in the project of construction of its headquarters at Jammu.
